Meet Upendra Mishra

Author

Upendra Mishra is the author of After the Fall: How Owen Lost Everything and Found What Truly Mattered and Precise Marketing: The Proven System for Growing Revenue in a Noisy World. His first book, After the Fall, is a deeply reflective and genre-blending narrative described by reviewers as “poetic and profound.” Drawing from autobiography, spiritual inquiry, and psychological insight, the book offers more than a story—it offers a mirror.

This is not a book about conventional success. It is for high-functioning professionals, everyday strivers, and anyone weary of the relentless cycles of burnout, broken relationships, financial upheaval, and spiritual confusion. It’s about descent—and the slow, messy, beautiful act of returning to oneself.

Through the story of Owen—a gifted entrepreneur who, at the height of his achievements, experiences a total collapse—the book explores what remains when ambition fades, titles disappear, and the applause dies down. What if the real work begins after the fall? What if the spiral of rise and fall isn’t failure, but a call to something deeper?

Informed by the Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita, by Marcus Aurelius and Carl Jung, and by the wisdom of lived experience, After the Fall invites readers to examine their lives not as straight lines but as spirals—cyclical journeys of forgetting and remembering, losing and becoming. It’s also a love story of sorts, shaped by the quiet influence of two soulmates—Anamika in India and Maria in Mexico—whose presence helped Owen rediscover himself.

At its core, this is not a story of enlightenment. It’s the story of a man learning to make peace with himself. And in doing so, it becomes a meditation on healing—not as a destination, but as a rhythm. A practice. A conversation with the self that never truly ends.

Whether you are navigating your own fall, rebuilding from one, or simply beginning to question the life you’ve built, this book offers companionship, insight, and a gentle reminder: You are not alone. Even in the darkness, something within you still wants to rise.

Mishra is also the author of My Journey Without My Mother: A Memoir, a tender and introspective series currently published in INDIA New England News—the nation’s largest Indian-American multimedia platform.
